Two faculty members of the College of Education (CED)—Dr. Manuel B. Barquilla of the Department of Science and Mathematics Education (DSME) and Dr. Angeline P. Dinoro of the Department of Professional Education (DPRE)—represented MSU-IIT at the 2025 State Universities and Colleges Teacher Educators Association (SUCTEA) National Conference and Research Presentation, held from September 22 to 24, 2025, at Diversion 21 Hotel, Iloilo City.

Organized by SUCTEA National in partnership with SUCTEA Visayas Region and the Iloilo Chapter (comprising WVSU, ISAT U, ISUF, and NISU), the three-day event gathered teacher educators and researchers from across the Philippines to showcase research innovations, exchange best practices, and strengthen professional collaborations in teacher education.

Dr. Barquilla presented his paper titled “Designing and Implementing a Professional Development Program on Synergizing Cognitive Science and Pedagogical Instructions for Teaching and Learning” under Strand B: Innovating Pedagogies for 21st Century Teaching and Learning, and served as one of the judges for the Best Paper Presentation in Strand A: Emerging Technologies for 21st Century Teaching and Learning.

Meanwhile, Dr. Dinoro participated in the conference discussions focusing on the integration of 21st-century skills and teacher professional growth within SUCs, contributing to the collaborative exchange of ideas among national educators.

The event featured more than 130 research papers from various SUCs nationwide, covering themes such as digital pedagogy, lifelong learning, accreditation, and innovations in teacher education. Plenary sessions included talks on accreditation and lifelong learning, as well as the sharing of best practices by SUCTEA chapters from Regions 3, 6, and 10, paving the way for future partnerships and research collaborations.

Dr. Barquilla expressed that the event “deepened his appreciation of emerging trends in teacher education and the need for SUCs to stay responsive to global and local educational demands,” while Dr. Dinoro emphasized the value of continuous collaboration in enhancing the quality of teaching and learning in the Philippine context.

MSU-IIT’s active participation in SUCTEA 2025 reaffirms its commitment to academic excellence, research innovation, and leadership in teacher education. The College of Education continues to integrate the insights and networks gained from such engagements in improving the quality of its programs.
