MSU-IIT wins awards at Agri-Tech Innovate Bootcamp

A team from the College of Science and Mathematics (CSM) of Mindanao State University–Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) unlocked new achievement after placing first in the recently concluded Agri-Tech Innovate: Bootcamp and Mentoring Session and winning the Best Presentation award through their presentation Smart Environmental Aquatic Monitoring (SEAQUA), held in Quezon City on August 25-29, 2025.
Organized by the Agricultural Training Institute of the Department of Agriculture, the bootcamp gathered twelve innovative teams from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, who were also winners from the Ideation Workshop and advanced to Phase 2 of the Agri-Tech Innovate competition.
Representing MSU-IIT, the delegates are:
- Prof. Mercedes Maceren-Pates, mentor, Department of Marine Science
- Mary Emily Aguilar, 4th Year, Department of Marine Science
- Alessandra Elaine Miñoza, 2nd Year, Department of Physics
- Theo Mata, 3rd Year, Department of Information Technology
The team presented their innovative pitch, SEAQUA, a smart Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS) that uses Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, and biofiltration, introducing a solution with strong potential to transform the country’s aquaculture practices.
This achievement highlights MSU-IIT’s commitment to fostering innovation, advancing research, and promoting sustainable solutions in agriculture and technology. The victory also reflects the university’s strong collaborative culture, where expertise from diverse fields—marine science, physics, and information technology—comes together to create impactful solutions.
