On July 23, 2025, the Mindanao State University - Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) and the èßäAVAlumni Association (MSUAA) - IIT Chapter formally signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Alumni and Endowment Fund Center (AEFC) to help bridge the partnership between the University and the association. The agreement marks the beginning of a scholarship program set to launch in the upcoming school year.
This project, being one of the core programs of the MSUAA-IIT Chapter, aims to provide support to students from low-income families. The Office of Admissions, Scholarships, and Grants (OASG) will administer the selection process of three deserving students that will benefit from this agreement. The selected students will receive a stipend of P5,000.00 per month, which will provide assistance to cover academic and living costs. The pilot batch will be composed of one incoming first-year student and two fourth-year or graduating students, providing long-term and short-term support across levels of students. For efficient implementation and tracking, the association will have close coordination with the University to provide transparency and efficient choice of recipient applicants based on merit and need.
Under the leadership of Professor Emeritus Sukarno D. Tanggol, the scholarship program strengthened the chapter's role in alumni representation and community service. He also expressed his commitment to mobilizing support and donations from his contacts to keep the program running and expanding.
With the implementation of MOA, the University and the MSUAA-IIT Chapter eagerly await making a positive impact on the pioneering beneficiaries’ lives, hoping that this pilot batch of scholars is just the beginning of many more in the coming years.
The scholarship initiative is also an extension of MSU-IIT's overall goal of ensuring equal, equitable access to education alongside nudging its graduates to help mold the next generation of leaders and professionals.
