Leah Lyn Quiñones, a recent graduate of MSU-IIT, has made history as the first-ever Samsung Galaxy Campus Student Ambassador from Iligan City and one of only 95 student ambassadors nationwide to successfully complete the prestigious one-year program hosted by Samsung Philippines from July 2024 to July 2025.
Out of more than 7,000 applicants across the Philippines, only 150 students were invited for interviews, and 100 were accepted into the highly competitive Samsung Galaxy Campus program, an initiative designed to empower student leaders, creators, and innovators to represent the Samsung brand while developing their skills in content creation, marketing, leadership, and tech-driven storytelling.
Quiñones initially applied for Batch 1 of the program in early 2024 but was not selected. She applied again for Batch 2 and was accepted, marking a significant milestone not only for her personal journey but for MSU-IIT and the city of Iligan as well.
During her time in the program, Quiñones balanced multiple roles and responsibilities. She was a full-time graduating student from the College of Computer Studies, completing her thesis and on-the-job training while also working part-time to support her family.
The Samsung Galaxy Campus program provided a range of learning experiences through monthly missions, online and onsite events, and professional workshops covering topics such as leadership, content creation, personal branding, marketing, and mentorship. Participants also took part in high-level group projects, including the rare opportunity to design a packaging concept for the upcoming Galaxy S25 series alongside fellow ambassadors from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao
As a student ambassador, Quiñones represented the Samsung brand through digital content campaigns, community engagement, and participation in major tech and lifestyle events. She had the chance to collaborate with Samsung’s marketing and brand teams, attend exclusive trainings, and connect with mentors and like-minded youth leaders from all over the country.
“This journey taught me so much more than content creation. It taught me how to lead, show up, and trust in God’s timing,” Quiñones shared. “Even though I had to juggle so many roles all at once, this experience reminded me that opportunities are not limited by where you come from but by how willing you are to grow.”
Being a graduate from both MSU-IIT and the Samsung Galaxy Campus program, Quiñones hopes her story serves as a source of inspiration to fellow IITians and Iliganons. She believes her experience reflects the strength, resiliency, and talent of students from Mindanao and proves that with dedication and faith, nothing is too far out of reach.
Her journey stands as a proud moment not only for MSU-IIT but also for the entire city of Iligan, bringing national visibility to the potential of local youth and showcasing what is possible when students are given the space to lead and represent with purpose.
