In a symbolic transfer and transition of duties and responsibilities, a Turnover Ceremony for the New Deans of the various colleges and school of MSU-IIT was held at the University Boardroom on July 1, 2025. This shift in leadership is in accordance with BOR Resolution No. 220, series of 2025.

Assuming a three-year term in office beginning in July, the newly elected deans are expected to provide academic and administrative leadership for their respective colleges, overseeing curriculum development, faculty performance, student success, and resource management.

Six new deans have taken on leadership roles in their respective colleges, while two others were reappointed to continue their terms.

In the College of Engineering (COE), Prof. Jefferson A. Hora stepped into the deanship, succeeding Assoc. Prof. Maria Sheila K. Ramos. The College of Computer Studies (CCS) entrusted the position to Assoc. Prof. Eddie Bouy B. Palad, who succeeded Prof. Rabby Q. Lavilles. The College of Science and Mathematics welcomed PRISM Director Prof. Mylene M. Uy as its new dean, following the leadership of Prof. Jan Mickelle V. Maratas.

Meanwhile, Prof. Amelia T. Buan assumed the deanship of the College of Education, succeeding Prof. Monera A. Salic-Hairulla. The College of Health Sciences is now headed by Assoc. Prof. Minnie B. Mamauag, who replaced Prof. Abdullah Junior S. Mangarun. Finally, leadership of the School of Interdisciplinary Studies (SIS) transitioned to Prof. Peter D. Suson, who took over from Prof. Hilly Ann Maria R. Quiaoit.

The College of Arts and Social Sciences dean, Prof. Marie Joy D. Banawa, retains her position along with Prof. Maria Rizalia Y. Teves of the College of Economics, Business and Accountancy, who shall be serving in holdover capacity.

During the turnover ceremony, outgoing deans and incoming deans exchanged inspiring messages. Outgoing deans expressed their gratitude to their colleagues and the people who helped them during their term, and their full support to their successors. The incoming deans, who bravely accepted the responsibilities, also shared their full commitment to their roles and promised to do the best that they can to continue the thriving reputations of each college.

Chancellor Alizedney M. Ditucalan, in his inspirational message, showed his appreciation for the service rendered by the outgoing deans, noting that their election as deans occurred a few days after the election of his chancellorship, paralleling the length of their terms. “I must say that over the past years, the University has accomplished a lot, and I know that the University would not be able to accomplish that if not for your service. No one can take that away from you,” the Chancellor said.

He also emphasized the friendship and collegiality that unite the MSU-IIT community, regardless of who holds the leadership position.

Concluding his speech, the Chancellor wished the new deans good luck, and while he thinks that their shoes to fill in are quite big, it will not be difficult as the outgoing deans have already paved the way.
